New: Do you want psychological screening OR emotional support: have your say

As a previous patient,

Picture
I was surprised by the range of emotions I experienced before and after surgery.
I wished I had someone to trust my feelings with.  Friends and family were helpful but it didn't quite hit the spot. I have set this site up so you have an independent source of support.
Conversations can be individual or group.

I offer two separate conversations:
Pre-Op
Post-Op
I also offer group workshops where you can meet other patients: this is called The Surgery Buddy System. I also provide support for body image and appearance related issues. Please contact me for an initial consultation in the first instance.

As patients we are told to do our research and we go online. This is not the best way to do research unless we know exactly who we are talking to.

A cosmetic surgery consultation is followed by a 'cool-off' period. You are meant to spend this time considering all the pros and cons of choosing cosmetic surgery. What if you can't make this decision all alone? What if close friends, family or partners don't understand what you are going through? Will you trust the wrong person? Will you become victim of sales pressure techniques? Will you find yourself exploited in an online support group more interested in sales than service? If you are going for a consultation and need some emotional support - take this letter with you to your consultation.

I will help you do your research, explore your options and help you to reflect on your unique situation. We will do this together in a mindful, non-judgmental way. We all feel better when we know we have someone there who just 'gets it'.

Conversations can be held individually or in small groups where everyone can have some attention. Whether you choose individual or group conversation, we will talk about what is important to you. You may wish to carry on with additional conversations and this can be booked at a later stage.

Some of the things you may wish to talk to me about are:

Picture
  • appearance and surgery
  • surgeon choice
  • your expectations
  • the consultation
  • unique issues
  • fear of general anaesthetic
  • preparing for surgery
  • coping with healing time
  • dealing with friends and family
  • meeting other patients
  • well-being
  • the future
  • psychological screening
  • BDD
